The craziest week.....ever!

Ok, so where to start? Let's see....it all started Sunday when I was discussing upsherin cookies with my boss. Her grandson was having an upsherin, and we were brainstorming on different cute ideas. Thats it, just a teeny tiny discussion about yarmulke cookies, and I was bitten by a bug to make yarmulke cookies. So Sunday afternoon I decided to make yarmulke cookies for my neighbors upsherin. Sneak preview:
Then, as the cookies were baking, I got a call from someone who wanted to order Aleph Beis cookies for her son's upsherin as well. Being that I am a bake-a-holic, I can't say no to anyone who asks me to bake something. Seriously. Please don't try it. Anyways, this nice someone had also ordered an upsherin cake for her son for the upcoming Sunday (Lag BaOmer). No problem, I thought. Today is Sunday, her cake is not for another week. I can totally handle doing the yarmulke cookies, and Aleph Beis Cookies....
Hundreds of star cookies and 154 Aleph Beis royal icing transfers later, I wasn't so sure of that....until my sister in law went ahead and gave birth to a baby boy!  Being that it was Tuesday, I figured we have plenty of time to make cake truffles, cupcakes and a cool shalom zachar cake. Its only Tuesday, right? If at this point in time you are asking yourself, what pray tell is wrong with that lady, please don't ask. Anyways, the story can go on and on, but let me spare you the details, and let the pictures tell the story...

And my favorite....

Aren't the matching fonts/letters cute? What the font. One of the coolest websites I've ever seen.

***At this point in time I would like to quite publicly thank my husband for truly supporting my craziness, and for helping me clean up the kitchen after every insane bake-a-thon- THANK YOU***

  8. wow! you're quick! thank you so much! what food coloring do you use? i want to try to make upsherin cookies for my son's upsherin. also, do you think these type of cookies can freeze well?

  9. :) You can definitely freeze the cookies, uniced for a month or 2. You can also prepare the aleph bais transfers at least a month in advance and store in a dry, cool place. Once the cookies are iced, its not recommended to freeze them, but they stay fresh for at least 1-2 weeks. I use Wilton food coloring paste for everything. Good luck!
