Peanut Butter Caramel Sauce

Caramel Sauce

1/2 cup dark karo syrup
1/2 cup smooth peanut butter
1 tablespoon vanilla sugar

In a small saucepan, combine karo syrup, peanut butter and vanilla sugar. Mix over medium heat until smooth. You can freeze the sauce until you are ready to use it, and defrost when needed.

  1. Where do you find vanilla sugar?! I am a college student so my resources are somewhat limited.

  2. I usually get mine from our local grocery store- http://www.allinkosher.com/p-36840-haddar-vanilla-sugar-12-oz-parve.aspx

    Here's a substitute though-http://www.ehow.com/about_5332306_substitute-vanilla-sugar.html

In this recipe I think it would be fine to use one teaspoon vanilla extract. I find that vanilla sugar gives it more of a marshmallow flavor, than a strong vanilla flavor.

  3. I only have light Karo syrup. Do you think that would be fine or should I buy the dark?

  4. Yep, I use either, and they both taste fine- just the coloring come out different. My sister just made it with maple syrup too!
